Elaina Kennedy graduated from Vermont College of Fine Arts where she received her MFA. She has worked in a variety of mediums including acrylic, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture and video. In her prints she presents layers of abstracted moments in time from everyday experiences. She explores aspects of distance, time and place with a fascination for the outdoors. Much of her work is based within curiosity and her process informs the next shape, color or mark.
Most recently, Elaina has turned to things that she previously would have tossed out—cardboard, magazines, plastic cups, and envelopes—for her newest body of work. In the past few years, her work has shifted from abstract acrylic landscape paintings to works created completely from immediately available recycled materials. A focus on geometric shapes, patterns, and colors continues to animate her artwork in her show Re-Imagined.
